• DIVA ! (the latin word for a female deity) is the most sophisticated and glamorous stlye of the whole collection. Because of the way true slippers are made (turnshoe construction) there have never been complicated patterns and  styles using luxurious materials and accessories. We challenge these limits to bridge the gap between the world of slippers and that of shoes. The pattern of  DIVA !  is in tune with the best of Art Nouveau design and it is an intricate game of layers and fine trim details which highlight the main lines. The careful selection of leathers and materials displays surprising contrasts in colours, in textures and in glossy versus matt.
• We wanted these slippers to be something fallen out of time and bringing back the same flavour of  tailor-made "couturier dresses"  or bespoke handmade shoes. Nowadays we are overwhelmed with perfect products that all look alike, everything is mass produced to very high standards. But we do not want "standards"!  We want exclusive, personal items!  When everyhting was truly handmade products had little imperfections but had a heart and something made them feel part of us. They would "grow on us" and take our personality....Leather in particular was different because it was not treated with all the chemicals used today.  If you still have one of your grandfather's wallets or one of your grandma's purses you will notice how leather was more natural looking and with an irregular colouring.  So we searched for a leather with a soul, refined and yet imperfect, a leather capable of picking up the signs of wear and time with character. We have found a particular process to make it and  called it "vintage leather" * . 
  *it is quality suede that undergoes the application of a super thin metallic lamina which is then buffed to achieve the look of vintage leather from the Twenties'. If you take a close exam you will notice that it looks as if it is all slightly cracked. The leather achieves an attractive smooth touch and is a pleasure to caress....
   
• The upper is in dark gold vintage leather, think of a very dark gold colour, almost brass, with a black underlayer.  The V-shape part is in black suede with gleaming pinstripes and at the centre there is a goldish semi-transparent charleston button. A fine black trim runs along the intersections drawing a larger V line.  The lining and insole are in space violet nappa creating a contrast that reminds that  inside a jewel box.
   
• Made on our LOMBARD last*  which is our most sexy last, cleverly designed to have a distictive pointy toe while maintaining the absolute comfort you expect from slippers.
  The name Lombard plays on a double meaning: it is Lombard because it was designed and made in Milano which is in Lombardy county and it is Lombard as an homage to the all time glamour of the diva Carole Lombard
  *a last is a foot shape around which shoes are made, its specific design determines the silhouette and look of the shoe
   
• Made in Italy by hand by artisans matching patient traditional construction and careful leather selection with the use of innovative materials to guarantee long lasting comfort
   
• The whole insole is padded with a special open cell compound which ensures that you get both comfort and a breathable environment for your feet naturally preventing the development of odours
  Outsole in black bovine suede.
